The LBPA currently consists of six research teams and a total staff of 59, including 40 permanent staff.
The laboratory is a part of the University Paris-Saclay and is associated with two laboratories of excellence: le labEx NanoSaclay and the labEx Lermit. LBPA is also part of “Frisbee” which a network platform in a network of technological platforms at a national level (IBISA)
The LBPA is focused on integrative biology based on complementary cutting-edge technologies. The main scientific themes range from anti-tumour and anti-viral pharmacology through to the study of bacterial pathogens. At a fundamental level molecular mechanisms linked with specific pathologies are studied with a specific emphasis placed on the dynamics of macromolecular interactions in nucleoprotein complexes. The laboratory has an acknowledged expertise in a number of cutting edge technologies including biophotonics, time resolved fluorescence, molecular photonics, nuclear magnetic resonance, cellular imagery (multiphoton, FLIM, FCS…), cell culture laboratories at second and third security levels and biosensors and the development and utilisation of nanoparticles.
LBPA is a founder member of the d’Alembert Institute.
