The Institutions and Historical Dynamics of Economics and Society (IDHES) Laboratory at ENS Paris-Saclay (humanities and social sciences) is a joint research unit in history, economics and sociology.
It is associated with the Department of Teaching and Research (DER) of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHS).

IDHES is a research laboratory founded in 1997 at ENS Paris-Saclay.
It is also a CNRS joint research unit (UMR 8533) which brings together five universities—ENS Paris-Saclay and the universities of Paris 1, Paris 8, Paris 10 and Evry Val d'Essonne—with CNRS to work on an research programme of European scope.

Research

The laboratory pursues a research programme centred on the historical dynamics of economic and social institutions.

Research at IDHES is organized into four areas:

  • Products, companies, work and employment relations.
  • Knowledge, skills and innovation.
  • Capital, finance, debt and credit, between public and private.
  • Public policy and public goods.
