Irène Joliot-Curie Prize

Created in 2001 by the French Ministry of Research, the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize is designed to promote the role of women in research and technology in France.
The prize has been awarded to over 60 women scientists with outstanding careers in all scientific disciplines.

The 3 categories of the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize

The "Woman Scientist of the Year" award
Rewards a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to public research, through the openness of her subject, the importance of her work and recognition in her scientific field, both nationally and internationally. The prize is worth 40,000 euros.

The "Young female scientist" prize
The prize honors three young women scientists in the "Young Woman Scientist" category. It highlights and encourages three scientists who have defended their theses within the last 10 years, and who have distinguished themselves by a career path and work that make them talented specialists in their fields. Each winner receives 20,000 euros.

The "Women, Research and Enterprise" prize
Rewards a woman who has developed scientific and/or technical innovations in a research and development function, working within a company or contributing to the creation of a company. It is endowed with 20,000 euros.
