Ultracold Rydberg Physics

Robin Côté, Associate Dean for Physical Sciences, University of Connecticut Department of Physics Gant Science Complex, will give a lecture during the Aimé Cotton colloquium, organized by LAC laboratory with the support of Labex Palm Université Paris-Sud.
Symposium

Professor Robin Côté's group explores theoretically atomic. molecular, and optical physics in a variety of systems, including their application to quantum information science. This research group is especially interested in their behavior under extreme conditions, such as in ultracold atomic and molecular gases

We briefly review the properties of Rydberg atoms, and explore how their characteristics can be used in a variety of applications, from quantum information, to the exploration of exotic atomic and molecular systems.

In particular, we discuss how trilobite-like Rydberg states of dimers, trimers, tetramers, etc., could be used to probe the correlation function of ultracold gases.

In addition, we show that trimer trilobite states could shed light on Efi mov states, those exotic three-body bound states existing even if the three individual pairs are not bound. We also describe potential experimental signatures.
