Solidarity with the Ukrainian people
It sends a special message to the academic, scientific and student communities and their families, who are suffering from a dramatic situation. Our School is committed to defending the fundamental values of peace, solidarity and democracy, as well as promoting the freedom of peoples and ideas.
We are committed to hosting about 20 Ukrainian students and 10 PhD students in order to provide them with a framework for their studies.
In addition, the PAUSE programme is mobilised for the protection of scientists and artists. Science for Ukraine is a group of volunteers that provides an international inventory of support initiatives, both academic and logistical, for students and researchers.
A message of support and contact was sent to Ukrainian and Russian students and PhD students to reaffirm that all Ukrainian and Russian students at the School will be able to continue their training without discrimination.
ENS Paris-Saclay remains committed to maintaining links with the Russian scientific community in order to contribute to maintaining academic freedom and the universality of research.
Aid and solidarity initiatives
1) National and international arrangements
- The Programme d'Accueil en Urgence des Scientifiques en Exil - PAUSE - is opening a special appeal for emergency assistance to Ukrainian researchers in danger thanks to an emergency fund granted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. This emergency reception in France will allow the researcher to prepare, in connection with a host institution, an application to the PAUSE programme according to the regular procedures and criteria of the programme, on the basis of co-financing.
Programme PAUSE – Solidarité Ukraine
- In order to enable refugee students and doctoral candidates to pursue their studies in France, Campus France, with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, is setting up a national platform by the end of March where the places offered by French higher education institutions to Ukrainian students and doctoral candidates will be made available.
- The #ScienceForUkraine initiative identifies a wide range of paid academic positions for scientists (PhD students or above), academic transfer opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and temporary accommodation.
2) The systems put in place by the University of Paris-Saclay

The University of Paris-Saclay is mobilising alongside the Paris-Saclay University Foundation to collect donations to help students, researchers and colleagues affected by the war in Ukraine.
The Foundation is counting on the solidarity of our university community to reinforce the emergency aid set up by the University of Paris-Saclay for students, scientists and colleagues who are victims of the conflict in Ukraine.
Indeed, in the current situation, many of them are cut off from their families and will have to face serious difficulties of all kinds. Thanks to your donation to the Foundation, the University will be able to increase the actions already undertaken and implemented since the beginning of the conflict (housing, social and psychological assistance, various aids...).
