Negative ions have made their appearance in the interstellar medium about ten years ago, owing to their successful rotational spectroscopy in the laboratory and their detection with radio telescopes.
This has sparked interest in the formation and destruction pathways of negative ions in space. In my talk I will present recent experiments on the photo-detachment and rotational spectroscopy of cold trapped molecular ions as well as experiments on inelastic and reactive collisions.
