Institutions et dynamiques historiques de l'économie et de la société

Institutions and historical dynamics of the economy and society – IDHE.S

Founded in 1997, the IDHE.S laboratory (Institutions et dynamiques historiques de l'économie et de la société) is a joint research unit in the humanities and social sciences bringing together the CNRS and five university clusters: the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, the Universities of Paris 1, Paris 8, Paris Nanterre and Évry Paris-Saclay. The IDHE.S ENS Paris-Saclay cluster is associated with the Human and Social Sciences teaching and research department (DER) of ENS Paris-Saclay.

IDHE.S brings together research professors, doctoral students and post-docs in history, economics and sociology, working on a central theme: institutions, considered in their multiple dimensions (economic, social, political, legal) and grasped in their long-term evolutionary dynamics (16th- 21st centuries). Institutions and their evolution are studied through four areas of specialization: “Work”, “Knowledge”, “Capital” and “Assets”. These four areas of research are linked by transversal axes: (1) “Value and inequalities” and (2) “Crises and regulations”.
