Abstract
Exploring the Earth differently, composing knowledge
As we face an unprecedented upheaval in our living conditions and survival, science and technology are taking a prominent place in the reflection on the current ecological and climatic crisis.
What is this Earth whose limits, reactions and interdependencies we are discovering?
How can we equip ourselves to understand it better, to explore it anew, to inhabit it differently?
Drawing on the contributions of the history of science and her experience as a director, Frédérique Aït-Touati will question the role of the aesthetics of the Anthropocene in our ways of representing the catastrophe and attempting to deal with it.
Frédérique AÏT-TOUATI
Frédérique AÏT-TOUATI lives and works in Paris. She studied literature and the history of science at the École Normale Supérieure and at Cambridge University, where she trained as a director. Founder of the Compagnie Zone Critique, she has been collaborating with the philosopher Bruno Latour for ten years.
Since 2014, she has been invited to the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers where she has created most of her shows (Le théâtre des négociations, Inside, Moving Earths, Viral), presented in particular at the Théâtre de l'Odéon, the Centre Pompidou, the Théâtre de la Criée in Marseille, the Kaaitheater in Brussels, in New York (The Kitchen, The Signature Theatre) and in Berlin (HAU, Berliner Festspiele).
She will be in residence at the Théâtre National de Chaillot from the beginning of the academic year 2022, with her company and SPEAP, the school for experimentation in political arts that she directs.
Her research echoes her productions, as in her latest books Terra Forma, Le Cri de Gaïa and Trilogie terrestre.
