With the "Young Talents Award for Women in Science", the L'Oréal Foundation, UNESCO and the Academy of Sciences support the research of women scientists by rewarding 35 of them, among 660 candidates.
Congratulations to Tina NIKOUKHAH, doctoral student at the Centre Borelli, the mathematics laboratory of ENS Paris-Saclay, for her prize in 2022!

Prix Jeunes talents France

In France, women represent only 28% of academics in the basic sciences. The L'Oréal Foundation and its partners, UNESCO and the French Academy of Sciences, have created the "Prix Jeunes talents France" to support young female researchers each year.

In 2022, 23 female doctoral candidates and 12 female post-doctoral candidates were selected in France from 660 eligible applications by a jury of 28 researchers from the Academy of Sciences. The jury was chaired by Professor Patrick Flandrin, President of the French Academy of Sciences.

Tina NIKOUKHAH, winner 2022

Tina NIKOUKHAH is a PhD student in image processing at the Centre Borelli, the mathematics laboratory of ENS Paris-Saclay. She is working on algorithms that can tell whether an image has been falsified or not. "I take an image and my aim is to find out what happened to it," she explains.

Apart from her research, she has two passions, her dog, Pashmina, and passing on her knowledge to young people, from primary to secondary school students. Alongside her thesis, she has carried out numerous activities, including scientific workshops: "I carried out my doctoral mission at the Maison d'Initiation et de Sensibilisation aux Sciences (MISS). I also gave workshops and lectures to students from primary to high school."

The winners receive grants and training (personal development, negotiation, communication and public speaking, etc.) to give them additional resources to better promote their scientific research. "This will help me in my work, in my research and in teaching.
Indeed, she is defending her thesis in November 2022 and will continue her research work on "false images" at the Borelli Centre. "I continue, even more motivated. And I am lucky to be able to stay with my team at the Borelli Centre."
