Gender equality

ENS Paris-Saclay has been committed to gender equality for several years, under the impetus of the equality officers, in particular with its professional equality plan voted by the board of directors in 2020.

The professional equality plan at ENS Paris-Saclay

As part of this professional equality plan, the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) requested that 4 main areas be worked on:

  • The reduction of the pay gap between women and men ;
  • Equal access to bodies, grades and steps;
  • The articulation between professional and personal life;
  • The fight against discrimination and sexual harassment.

ENS Paris-Saclay has included 25 actions in its professional equality plan, focusing on the objectives of "training" and "information".
The implementation of these actions is scheduled according to a timetable integrated into the plan, over 3 years.
Their progress will be examined by a dedicated health, safety and working conditions committee (CHSCT) once a year.

Flagship actions for each of the MESRI axes

Axis 1: Assessment, prevention and treatment of pay gaps

A work aiming at analysing the remuneration reports will be carried out from the elements found in the comparative situation report (RSC) elaborated by the company Équilibres on the basis of the 2019 social data and complementary to the social balance sheet.
The latter made it possible to take stock of professional equality within ENS Paris-Saclay. It was built on the basis of indicators defined by decree and provides numerical and gendered information on staff numbers, staff movements and training, remuneration and working conditions in five chapters: staff numbers, careers, remuneration, work organisation/leave and working conditions/absences.

Axis 2: Ensuring equal access for women and men to bodies, grades and jobs

Awareness of gender bias will be implemented for juries and committees.
Incentives to submit applications for bonuses and promotions for women who might be eligible are being carried out at ENS Paris-Saclay.

Axis 3: Work-life balance

Information on paternity, maternity and parental leave will be made more easily accessible. These leaves will be better supervised so that everyone (staff concerned and entities) can prepare for them and manage them in the most serene way possible.
A breastfeeding room will be set up and clearly indicated.

Axis 4: Fight against sexual and gender-based violence, harassment and discrimination

A study will be carried out on the mechanism for combating such violence and harassment in order to formalise and further improve its operation. New training and awareness-raising sessions on these subjects will be set up.
The procedures for taking transsexual, non-binary and intersex identities into account will be formalised and made available.

Axis 5: Actions for learners

The equality plan and the comparative situation report (CSR) will be available online soon.
